Darlene holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and an M.S.I. in Bilingual-Bicultural Education from Northeastern Illinois University, as well as a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Governors State University. In 2020, she began serving as an Assistant Principal at a Dual Language School in West Chicago. By 2022, she transitioned to Addison Trail High School, first working in the Dean’s Office and later starting the 2024-2025 school year as an Assistant Principal.

She is an active board member of the Illinois Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (IALAS) and is currently in her third year as a Doctoral student at National Louis University, where she is pursuing an Ed.D. in Strategic Educational Leadership.

Darlene is also a devoted mother to two teenage sons, who are currently a high school sophomore and senior.
