Dr. Héctor García is a highly accomplished and dedicated educational leader with more than 30 years of experience shaping successful schools and districts. Currently, he serves as the Superintendent of District 181 in Hinsdale, Illinois, where he has guided the K-8 district to widespread acclaim, including three consecutive Blue Ribbon Awards and five awards overall since his appointment in 2018. His district has also earned multiple Model PL School awards for its collaboration practices.
Dr. García’s extensive career in public service has prepared him to lead in a variety of environments. He has served in diverse roles, from teacher and high school principal to district-level administrator, in districts ranging from the prestigious Adlai Stevenson District 125 to Morton East District 201, where over 90% of students are from low-income households. His fluency in both English and Spanish and his bicultural background have been instrumental in his ability to build strong, lasting community partnerships.
A champion of high expectations and collaboration, Dr. García has a proven track record of transforming schools and fostering a culture of success. He has also shared his expertise as a graduate-level instructor in leadership, organizational behavior, and curriculum at three universities in the Chicago area.

Dr. García holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Loyola University Chicago, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
