Dr. Beatriz Maldonado is a student-centered educational leader with over 25 years of experience in PreK–8 education, including district and building leadership, bilingual programming, and curriculum development. As Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, she leads systemwide work in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning across eight schools—driving stronger instructional coherence, improved student outcomes, and expanded access to equitable learning experiences. Dr. Maldonado has advanced dual language programming, strengthened MTSS frameworks, and built leadership capacity to better meet the needs of diverse learners. Her work has increased alignment across schools, enhanced support for multilingual learners, and deepened data-informed instructional practices. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Dominican University and mentors first-year principals through the Illinois Principals Association. Dr. Maldonado was selected for the ALAS Superintendent Leadership Academy, further strengthening her preparation for the superintendency. She has presented at state and national conferences on bilingual education, leadership, and family engagement. Fluent in Spanish, she is committed to fostering inclusive, rigorous learning environments that empower students, educators, and communities.
